CCCAS Expands Counseling Services to Include Problem Gambling Counseling

Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services (CCCAS) is proud to announce a new initiative to combat problem gambling, a growing addiction affecting individuals and families in our community. Recognizing that addiction comes in many forms, including gambling, our counselors are stepping up to address this critical need with specialized training and support.

Two of our counselors have recently completed the foundational 30-hour training and are actively working toward the 100 hours required to become nationally certified problem gambling counselors. This certification will ensure that CCCAS can provide the highest level of care to those struggling with gambling addiction, which is often closely linked to other forms of addiction, such as substance abuse.

This groundbreaking effort is made possible by a generous grant, which not only funds the advanced training for our counselors but also ensures that individuals without insurance can access these vital services at no cost. For many, this financial support removes a significant barrier to receiving the help they need to reclaim their lives and rebuild their futures.

In addition to our counselors’ certification journey, CCCAS is now officially listed as a provider at the Helpline Center on the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania’s website, www.pacouncil. This listing enhances our visibility and ensures that those seeking help can easily find us.

The rise of gambling addiction is a growing concern in Pennsylvania and beyond. The prevalence of PA Skills Games in local establishments, the convenience of online gambling and sports betting, and Erie’s own casino have made gambling more accessible than ever. Unfortunately, with this accessibility comes an increased risk of addiction, affecting individuals from all walks of life.

By expanding our counseling services to include problem gambling counseling, CCCAS is addressing a critical need in our community. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to serving those in need and providing hope, healing, and support to individuals and families facing life’s challenges.

If you or someone you know is struggling with gambling addiction, help is available. Please contact CCCAS or the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania for resources and support. Together, we can make a difference.
