At Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services, we’re proud to highlight the incredible dedication of our team members. Today, we celebrate Carly, one of our counselors, who has recently achieved an extraordinary milestone: becoming a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS). Carly is also a Certified Family Recovery Specialist (CFRS), bringing a depth of experience and compassion to the work she does every day.
Becoming a CRS is no small feat—it’s an intensive process requiring 80 hours of specialized training and passing a state-regulated test. But what truly sets this certification apart is its foundation in lived experience. Certified Recovery Specialists are individuals who have gone through recovery themselves. They serve not only as advocates but also as empathetic supporters, walking alongside those currently navigating the path to recovery. This peer-support approach emphasizes connection and shared understanding, rather than teaching or instructing.
Similarly, Carly’s certification as a Family Recovery Specialist reflects her personal journey of having a family member in recovery. This unique perspective allows her to connect with families in deeply meaningful ways, offering support informed by firsthand experience.
Carly’s dual certifications empower her to strengthen recovery efforts within our community. She helps clients access local services, build connections, and find hope. Whether it’s meeting someone for coffee to offer encouragement or guiding families through their own healing journeys, Carly exemplifies the heart of what recovery work is all about: walking with others through shared experiences and a commitment to growth.
We are so proud of Carly’s accomplishments and the positive impact she has on the lives of those she serves. Her lived experience and dedication are invaluable assets to our team and our mission. Congratulations, Carly, on this well-deserved recognition!
